A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to require signage directing traffic to the Vietnam veterans memorial, the beirut memorial, the coastal carolina state veterans cemetery, the veterans park, and the north carolina veterans cemetery.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Of funds appropriated to the Department of Transportation from the Highway Fund for fiscal year 2011-2012, the Department shall expend up to the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for each of the following:

(1)        New signs located along NC Highway 24 and U.S. Highway 17 Bypass and Business routes and Western Boulevard in Jacksonville, Onslow County, for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Beirut Memorial, and the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery that replace old signs and add new signage, listing all memorials on one sign, at each of the various locations the signs currently appear along NC Highway 24 and U.S. Highway 17 Bypass and Business routes and Western Boulevard in Jacksonville, Onslow County.

(2)        New signs located along US 401, NC Highway 87-24, and NC Highway 210 in Cumberland County, that provide directions to the Veterans Park in Fayetteville and for new signage on Highway 87-24 and NC Highway 210 for the North Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2011.
