A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to authorize watauga county to conduct a referendum to opt out of sunday bow hunting.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  If State law, by statute or rule, authorizes bow hunting on Sunday, then the board of commissioners of Watauga County may direct the Watauga County Board of Elections to conduct an election on the date of the general election in November 2010 for the purpose of submission to the qualified voters of the county the question of whether Watauga County shall be exempted from allowing bow hunting on Sunday. If a majority of the qualified voters of the county vote in the affirmative, then the statute or rule authorizing bow hunting on Sundays shall not apply in Watauga County.

SECTION 2.  This act applies only to Watauga County.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
