S257 - Appropriations Act of 2017. (SL 2017-57)

Overview: S.L. 2017-57, Sec. 9.3, as amended by Sec. 2.11 of S.L. 2017-197, directs the State Board of Community Colleges (SBCC) to study the costs of workforce training and academic instruction delivered by the community colleges, including the various factors that affect instructional costs, such as specialized equipment requirements and faculty salaries. The SBCC must report on the results of the study to the Office of State Budget and Management, the Fiscal Research Division, and the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee by September 1, 2018. The results must also include recommendations on the calculation of tiered funding rates and the classification of courses by tier.
