A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to REQUIRE COUNTY COMMISSIONER APPROVAL OF ALL INVOLUNTARY ANNEXATIONS.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 160A‑37 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
"(l) An annexation ordinance adopted pursuant to this section shall not become effective unless approved by majority vote of all boards of county commissioners representing the area affected by the proposed annexation."
SECTION 2. G.S. 160A‑49 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
"(m) An annexation ordinance adopted pursuant to this section shall not become effective unless approved by majority vote of all boards of county commissioners representing the area affected by the proposed annexation."
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law.
