Short Title:      Reentry Collaborative.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to establish a state ReEntry Council collaborative utilizing personnel from the Division of Motor Vehicles, The Department of Health and Human Services, The Administrative office of the Courts, The North Carolina Community College System, And The Community Corrections Division Within The Adult Corrections Division of the Department of Public Safety to enhance the mission of the Justice reinvestment Act.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety shall establish a reentry council collaborative to study the needs of ex‑offenders who have been recently released from a correctional institution. The reentry council shall include at least one but not more than two representatives from each of the following:

(1)        The Division of Motor Vehicles.

(2)        The Department of Health and Human Services.

(3)        The Administrative Office of the Courts.

(4)        The North Carolina Community College System.

(5)        The Division of Adult Correction of the Department of Public Safety.

(6)        Any other agency that the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety deems relevant.

SECTION 2.  The Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety shall submit a final report of its findings and recommendations to the 2018 Regular Session of the 2017 General Assembly, and quarterly thereafter, by filing the report with the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
