A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate additional funds for the Nc prekindergarten (nc Pre‑K) program in tier three counties.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child Development and Early Education, the sum of twelve million nine hundred thousand dollars ($12,900,000) for the 2017‑2018 fiscal year to provide additional funds for the prekindergarten (NC Pre‑K) program in tier three counties. For purposes of this section, a tier three county shall have the same designation as established by the N.C. Department of Commerce's 2017 County Tier Designations.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2017.
