A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT To REvise the Avery County Fire Commission to add an advisory committee.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Section 3 of S.L. 2003‑272 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:

"SECTION 3.(i)  The Commission shall be assisted in the performance of its duties by an advisory committee. The advisory committee shall consist of the Fire Chiefs of every Volunteer Fire Department located in Avery County or serving a portion of Avery County and a member of the Avery County Board of Commissioners designated by that body. The County Manager shall serve as a nonvoting ex officio member of the Commission and shall be the liaison between the advisory committee established by this subsection and the Commission. The advisory committee shall meet at least quarterly at a public facility convenient to the public, preferably at the County Office Building."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
