A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to Improve teacher education preparation programs in north carolina.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 115C‑296(b)(2) is amended by adding a new sub-subdivision to read:

"g. Maintain a nationally accredited teacher education unit that promotes continuous improvement in teacher preparation programs."

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2015, and applies to new applicants for approval of teacher preparation programs by the State Board of Education on or after July 1, 2015, and to currently approved teacher education programs applicants who apply for continuing approval on or after July 1, 2017.
