A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to Study modernization of the Tobacco acreage Assessment program to better reflect the modern Tobacco agricultural sector.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services shall study the system for promotion of tobacco and assessment of farmers set forth in Article 50C of Chapter 106 of the General Statutes.

SECTION 2.  The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services shall report its findings and recommendations developed pursuant to this act to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services on or before January 1, 2015.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
