A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to create the north carolina Partnership for prosperity.

Whereas, North Carolina must create a more efficient organization capable of responding to the needs of both existing industry and the needs of companies looking to expand in North Carolina; and

Whereas, this new organization must be leaner, faster-moving, and more nimble than North Carolina's current economic development and marketing structure; Now, therefore,

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The North Carolina Partnership for Prosperity (NCPP) shall be created and shall perform certain economic development and marketing functions, some of which are currently performed by the North Carolina Department of Commerce. The NCPP shall be capable of accepting and expending private and public funds to carry out its core functions.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective January 1, 2014.
