A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to APPROPRIATE funds for the wilson academy of applied innovation.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction the sum of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) for the 2014‑2015 fiscal year in nonrecurring funds to be allocated to the Wilson County Schools for the planning and support of the Wilson Academy of Applied Innovation, a high school focusing on innovation and technology to prepare students for careers in manufacturing. The funds appropriated in this section may be used for school construction or renovation of school property.

SECTION 2.  Beginning with the 2015‑2016 fiscal year, contingent upon the approval of the Wilson Academy of Applied Innovation as a cooperative innovative high school under Part 9 of Article 16 of Chapter 115C of the General Statutes, it is the intent of the General Assembly to allocate to the Wilson Academy of Applied Innovation recurring funds in an amount equal to the amount allocated to each cooperative innovate high school under the cooperative innovative high school allotment.

SECTION 3.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2014.
