A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to create two receipt‑supported positions for a compliance unit within the RETIREMENT Systems Division of the DEPARTMENT of State Treasurer, as recommended by the Legislative Research Commission's Committee on Treasurer Investment Targets and State Employee Retirement Options.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Two receipt‑supported positions are hereby created in the Department of State Treasurer, Retirement Systems Division, in order to staff a compliance unit within the Division. The unit is tasked with reducing the risk of fraud, abuse, and waste within the retirement systems. Receipts for the positions may come from investment income from, contributions to, or other assets of the retirement systems managed by the Department.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2014.
