A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to require the department of TRANSPORTATION to give PRIORITY to completing improvements to the rail route from burgaw to wilmington with any increased State receipt of federal  high-speed rail funds, due to other states not utilizing their HIGH-speed rail funds.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Department of Transportation shall give priority to completing improvements to the rail route from Burgaw to Wilmington with any increase in receipts of federal high-speed rail funds received by the State, due to other states not utilizing their high-speed rail funds. Utilization of the funds for this purpose will allow the State to fully utilize its investment in the Wilmington multimodal facility, currently under development, and in the North Carolina State Port.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
