A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to require domestic violence training for certain individuals.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  Chapter 50B of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new section to read:

"§ 50B-10.  Domestic violence training.

Domestic violence training is required for the following individuals:

(1)        Prosecutors.

(2)        Magistrates.

(3)        Mediators.

(4)        Custody evaluators.

(5)        Parenting coordinators.

(6)        Guardians ad litem.

(7)        Educators in the public school system.

Both initial and continuing training efforts for the individuals listed under subdivisions (1) through (7) of this section shall be coordinated by the North Carolina School of Government, the Conference of District Attorneys, the Administrative Office of the Courts, the Mediation Network of North Carolina, and the Department of Public Instruction, as appropriate, and shall be in collaboration with the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence."

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective October 1, 2011.
