A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to assist small business manufacturers in expanding export opportunities.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Commerce, the sum of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for the 2012-2013 fiscal year to be used to provide grants to small businesses, as that term is defined in G.S. 105-129.50, that (i) satisfy the requirements of G.S. 105-129.83(c), (d), (e), and (f) relating to wage standard, health insurance, environmental impact, and safety and health programs, respectively, and (ii) are engaged in the manufacture of goods for exportation outside of the State.  Grants made by the Department under this section shall not exceed the costs for exportation actually incurred by a small business.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2012.
