A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT directing the legislative rEsearch commission to study the role of the boxing advisory commission in regulating boxing and other related arts.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Legislative Research Commission shall study the role of the Boxing Advisory Commission in the regulation of boxing and other events within its jurisdiction. In conducting the study, the Legislative Research Commission shall examine whether the current regulatory structure adequately protects the physical safety of participants and shall look at the regulatory systems in other states.

SECTION 2.  The Legislative Research Commission may make an interim report to the General Assembly no later than May 1, 2010, and shall make a final report no later than December 1, 2010.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
