A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to direct the division of Marine fisheries to study the fishery management plan development process, as recommended by the Joint legislative commission on seafood and aquaculture.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Division of Marine Fisheries shall study the Fishery Management Plan development process.  The Division shall specifically consider how the process could be made more efficient without impairing public input into the process.  The Division shall report its findings and recommendations, including any legislative proposals, to the Joint Legislative Commission on Seafood and Aquaculture no later than October 1, 2010.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
