A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds for the teach for america program.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction the sum of seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) in recurring funds. These funds shall be allocated to Teach for America, Inc., a nonprofit organization, to be used for recruiting, selecting, training, and supporting teachers who will teach in low-income schools in North Carolina.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2008.
