A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to require the department of transportation to name that portion of the new U.S. Highway 17 byPass around washington, beaufort county, after the late ashley futrell and to provide funding for signage.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The Department of Transportation shall name that portion of the new U.S. Highway 17 Bypass around Washington, Beaufort County, after the late Ashley Futrell. Of the funds appropriated to the Department of Transportation, the sum of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) may be spent, for fiscal year 2008-2009, for signage displaying the name of the late Ashley Futrell on that portion of U.S. 17 that creates the new Bypass around Washington, Beaufort County.

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
