A JOINT RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE LEGISLATIVE RESEARCH COMMISSION TO STUDY THE IMPACT OF SMOKING PROHIBITIONS IN FOSTER CARE HOMES.
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
SECTION 1.(a) The Legislative Research Commission ("Commission") may study whether smoking prohibitions that apply to foster care homes are having an impact on the availability of foster care homes. In conducting the study, the Commission shall consider whether smoking bans are a sensible approach to protecting the health of foster care children or whether smoking bans may cause a reduction in the number of available foster care homes.
SECTION 1.(b) The Legislative Research Commission may report its findings and recommendations to the 2009 General Assembly and shall make its final report to the 2009 General Assembly, Regular Session 2010.
SECTION 2. The Legislative Services Officer shall allocate funds appropriated to the General Assembly for the expenditures of the Legislative Services Commission in conducting this study.
SECTION 3. This resolution becomes effective upon ratification.
