A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds to the department of justice to INCREASE THE number of DNA Crime lab investigators.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Justice the sum of one hundred sixty-six thousand six hundred fifteen dollars ($166,615) for the 2005-2006 fiscal year and the sum of four hundred sixty-eight thousand ninety-seven dollars ($468,097) for the 2006-2007 fiscal year to fund seven new DNA investigators to expedite DNA analysis and speed the review, auditing, and uploading of DNA profiles into the DNA database (CODIS).

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2005.
