Bill Inquiry Help
To use the NCGA's Bill Inquiry System follow these steps:
- Click on a category of search criteria listed to the left of this window. Search options will replace this help frame.
- Select your search options. If you are searching more than one category, use the And/Or/Not operators to refine your search.
- Click the "Add Search Criteria" button. This will update your criteria frame (to the right) with your search criteria.
- Repeat steps 1 through 4 until you have added all search criteria for your query.
- Finally, select "Search!" at the extreme bottom of the screen to execute your query.
- To save or load a query (your current search criteria), select the "Load/Save Query" from the dropdown box above.
Tip:
- The logic of Bill Inquiry can be more easily understood through this analogy:
Shirts can be either red or white. If you go to a store and ask to see all shirts that are
"Red and White" none will be found. There are no shirts that are both red AND white.
To find all red shirts and all white shirts, you would need to ask to see all shirts that are red OR
white.
The Bill Inquiry system works in the same way. To find all House and Senate bills your search criteria would
need to look like this:
Type = "House Bill"
Or Type = "Senate Bill"
This will find all bills that are either a House or a Senate bill. If your search criteria looked like this:
Type = "House Bill"
And Type = "Senate Bill"
You would get no results because there are no bills that are both House and Senate bills. Remember this when using
the And/Or operators.
