HOUSE BILL 2091

 

 

AN ACT amending the charter of the town of kernersville to authorize the town to contract with any county in which a portion of the town is located for the collection of taxes.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

SECTION 1.  Section 16 of the Charter of the Town of Kernersville, being Chapter 381 of the 1989 Session Laws, as amended, reads as rewritten:

"Sec. 16.  Town Tax Collector.

The Tax Collector shall be appointed by the Town Manager and it shall be the duty of the Tax Collector to collect all taxes, licenses, fees and other moneys belonging to the Town government, subject to the provisions of this Charter and ordinances enacted thereunder, and he shall diligently comply with and enforce the general laws of North Carolina relating to the collection, sale and foreclosure of taxes by municipalities. The duties of the Tax Collector may be combined with the duties of some other office, or may be contracted for with the County of Forsyth for, in whole or in part, with any county within which a portion of the Town is located as the Board of Aldermen may from time to time decide, in which case the current appropriate county tax collector shall be appointed by the Town Manager as the a Tax Collector for the Town."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
