GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NORTH CAROLINA
SESSION LAW 2001-194
AN ACT to provide that grandparents may act as supervising drivers for Drivers holding limited learner's permits.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 20-11(k) reads as rewritten:
"(k)
Supervising Driver. - A supervising driver shall be a parent parent,
grandparent, or guardian of the permit holder or license holder or a
responsible person approved by the parent or guardian or the Division. A
supervising driver shall be a licensed driver who has been licensed for at
least five years. At least one supervising driver shall sign the application
for a permit or license."
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law.
In the General Assembly read three times and ratified this the 4th day of June, 2001.
