The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. G.S. 113A-57(2) reads as rewritten:
"(2) The angle for graded
slopes and fills shall be no greater than the angle which can be retained by
vegetative cover or other adequate erosion-control devices or structures. In
any event, slopes left exposed will, within 30 15 working days or
30 calendar days of completion of any phase of grading, whichever period
is shorter, be planted or otherwise provided with ground cover, devices, or
structures sufficient to restrain erosion."
Section 2. G.S. 113A-65.1(d) reads as rewritten:
"(d) The directives of a
stop-work order become effective upon service of the order. Thereafter,
any person notified of the stop-work order who violates any of the directives
set out in the order may be assessed a civil penalty as provided in G.S.
113A-64(a). A stop-work order issued pursuant to this section may be
issued for a period not to exceed three five days."
Section 3. This act becomes effective 1 October 1998.
