GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NORTH CAROLINA

CHAPTER 479
AN ACT TO MAKE TECHNICAL CHANGES TO THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE LAWS.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. The first sentence of G.S. 115D-2.1(g) is rewritten to read:
"The State Board of Community Colleges shall meet at stated times established by the State Board, but not less frequently than 10 times a year."
Sec. 2. The last sentence of G.S. 115D-2.1(g) is rewritten to read:
"A majority of the qualified members of the State Board shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business."
Sec. 3. G.S. 115D-2.1 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:
"(h) Whenever any vacancy shall occur in the appointed membership of the State Board, the Chairman shall inform the appropriate appointing authority of the vacancy."
Sec. 4. G.S. 115D-3 is amended by deleting the next to the last sentence which reads:
"The State Board shall appoint an advisory council consisting of at least seven members to advise the State Board on matters relating to personnel, curricula, finance, articulation, and other matters concerning institutional programs and coordination with other educational institutions of the State."
Sec. 5. This act is effective upon ratification.
