HOUSE BILL 85

 

 

AN ACT RELATING TO THE RECOMMENDATION AND APPOINTMENT OF PRECINCT OFFICIALS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 163-41 is amended by rewriting the fourth paragraph to read as follows:

"The chairman of each political party in the county, where possible, shall shall recommend five registered voters in each precinct, who are otherwise qualified, and who are residents of the precinct, and who have good moral character and are able to read and write, for appointment as registrar and judges of election in that precinct. If such recommendations are received by the county Board of Elections before the seventh Saturday before the primary is to be held, it must make precinct appointments from the names of those recommended."

Sec. 2.  This act shall become effective upon ratification.
