AN ACT TO REQUIRE NUMBERED SEATS IN DISTRICT NUMBER ONE FOR PURPOSE OF NOMINATING AND ELECTING COMMISSIONERS FROM THAT DISTRICT.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Chapter 11 of the Public-Local Laws of 1927 is hereby amended by adding a new paragraph to Section 2 thereof to read as follows:

"In District Number One, composed of Township Number Eight, each commissioner's position shall be considered as a separate office. The County Board of Elections shall designate one position as Seat No. 1 and the other as Seat No. 2. A candidate filing for office in District Number One shall indicate on the notice of candidacy the seat number for which he is seeking nomination and election. Votes cast for any candidate from this District, in the primary and election, shall be effective only for the seat for which the candidate is seeking election."

Sec. 2.  This act shall be effective upon ratification.
