HOUSE BILL 72

 

 

AN ACT TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF AULANDER FROM THREE TO FIVE, AND TO FIX THE COMPENSATION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMISSIONERS.

 

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Chapter 288 of the Public-Local Laws of 1939 is hereby amended as follows:

(a)       Section 3 is amended by striking out the word "three" and substituting the word "five" in lieu thereof in line 1.

(b)       Section 4 is amended by striking out the word "three" and substituting the word "five" in lieu thereof in line 2.

(c)       Section 6 is amended by striking out the word "five" in lines 15 and 23 and substituting the word "ten" in each place in lieu thereof.

(d)       Section 9 is amended by striking out the word and figure "three (3)" in next to the last line and substituting the word "four" in lieu thereof.

(e)       Section 20 is hereby amended by striking out the word "three" and substituting the word "five" in lieu thereof in line 1.

Sec. 2. It is the intent and purpose of Section 1 of this Act to increase the membership of the Board of Commissioners of Aulander from three to five commencing with the regular municipal election to be held in Aulander in 1967, to the end that five town commissioners and a mayor shall be elected biennially hereafter, to take office on July 1 succeeding each biennial election.

Sec. 3. The salary of the mayor of the Town of Aulander is hereby fixed at one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per year.

Sec. 4. The salary of the commissioners of the Town of Aulander is hereby fixed at twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per month each.

Sec. 5. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 6. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification; provided, however, the salary increases provided by Sections 3 and 4 of this Act shall not become effective until July 1, 1967.
