AN ACT TO MAKE IT UNLAWFUL TO TAKE OR DESTROY SEA TURTLES OR SEA TURTLE EGGS DURING THE MONTHS OF MAY THROUGH SEPTEMBER.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Chapter 113 of the General Statutes of North Carolina is hereby amended by adding a new Section immediately following G.S. 113-188, to be designated as G.S. 113‑189, and to read as follows:

"G.S. 113-189.  Protected Species. It shall be unlawful willfully to take, disturb or destroy any sea turtles including, but not limited to, green, hawksbill, loggerhead, and leatherback turtles, or their nests or eggs at any time during the months of May, June, July, August and September of each year."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
