AN ACT TO AMEND G.S. 20-30(e) AND G.S. 20-17, IMPOSING PENALTIES ON PERSONS CONSPIRING TO PROCURE DRIVERS' LICENSES BY FRAUDULENT MEANS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Subsection (e) of G.S. 20-30, as the same appears in the 1953 Recompiled Volume 1C of the General Statutes, is amended by deleting the period at the end of the first sentence and substituting a comma therefor and by adding the following words: "or for any person to procure, or knowingly permit or allow another to commit any of the foregoing acts."

Sec. 2.  G.S. 20-17, as the same appears in the 1965 Replacement Volume 1C of the General Statutes, is amended by adding thereto a new subsection to be designated subsection "(8)" to read as follows:

"Conviction of using a false or fictitious name or giving a false or fictitious address in any application for an operator's or chauffeur's license, or any renewal or duplicate thereof, or knowingly making a false statement or knowingly concealing a material fact or otherwise committing a fraud in any such application or procuring or knowingly permitting or allowing another to commit any of the foregoing acts."

Sec. 3.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4.  This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
