AN ACT RELATING TO THE SUSPENSION OF DRIVER'S LICENSE FOR NONPAYMENT OF JUDGMENT.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Amend G. S. 20-279.13 by renumbering subsection "(b)" to read subsection "(c)" and by adding a new subsection to read as follows: "(b) The Commissioner shall not, however, revoke or suspend the license of an owner, operator or chauffeur if the insurance carried by him was in a company which was authorized to transact business in this State and which subsequent to an accident involving the owner or operator and prior to settlement of the claim therefor went into liquidation, so that the owner, operator, or chauffeur is thereby unable to satisfy the judgment arising out of the accident." Sec. 2. Any license heretofore revoked or suspended by the Commissioner, contrary to the provisions of Section 1 of this Act, shall be returned to the licensee when said person gives proof of financial responsibility as provided in this Article.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
