HOUSE BILL 400

 

 

AN ACT TO EXEMPT EDGECOMBE COUNTY FROM G. S. 153-180, AND TO AMEND CHAPTER 166, SESSION LAWS OF 1953, RELATING TO THE FEEDING OF PRISONERS IN EDGECOMBE COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 153-180 is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following:

"The provisions of this Section shall not apply to Edgecombe County."

Sec. 2. Chapter 166, Session Laws of 1953, is amended by rewriting Section 1 thereof to read as follows:

"Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Edgecombe County is authorized and empowered to fix the amount that shall be paid to the sheriff of the county for the feeding or board of prisoners in the common jail of said county, and said amount shall not exceed one dollar fifty cents ($1.50) for each prisoner for each day."

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
