AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 174 OF THE PRIVATE LAWS OF 1905, AS AMENDED, RELATIVE TO THE NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE TOWN OF MAGNOLIA, N. C., AND TO PROVIDE FOUR-YEAR TERMS FOR THE MAYOR AND COMMISSIONERS THEREOF.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Section 4 of Chapter 174 of the Private Laws of 1905, as amended by Chapter 1103 of the Session Laws of 1949, is rewritten to read as follows:

"Sec. 4. The officers of the Town of Magnolia shall consist of a mayor and five commissioners, to be elected by the qualified voters of said town for terms of four years, except that at the next regular election held after the passage of this Act, the candidates for commissioner who receive the third, fourth, and fifth highest number of votes shall serve two-year terms only. Elections shall be held on the first Tuesday in May of odd-numbered years."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon ratification.
