HOUSE BILL 1160

 

 

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT A JAIL FEE SHALL BE TAXED AS PART OF THE COURT COSTS IN THE MAYOR'S COURT OF THE TOWN OF WHITAKERS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. In all criminal cases wherein the defendant is imprisoned in the City Jail of the Town of Whitakers, there shall be taxed the additional sum of one dollar ($1.00) as part of the costs in every case in which the defendant or prosecuting witness or prosecutor is ordered to pay the costs, which said one dollar ($1.00), to be known as the jail fee, shall be paid into the General Fund of the Town of Whitakers, and shall be used to assist in defraying the expense of operating the city jail.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified this the 6th day of June, 1963.
