AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF IREDELL COUNTY TO FIX COMPENSATION OF MEMBERS OF THE SAID BOARD.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Iredell County is hereby authorized and empowered to fix the compensation allowed to the members and chairman of the said board in an amount not in excess of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per member for each meeting; and to the chairman, not in excess of thirty-seven dollars and fifty cents ($37.50) for each meeting, provided, that such compensation shall not be paid for more than three meetings in any one (1) month. The said board of county commissioners is authorized and empowered to fix the compensation to be allowed for travel expense to the said members and chairman of the board in an amount not in excess of the compensation being paid to employees of the State for such travel expense.

Any increases in compensation granted by the said board of county commissioners shall not be applicable to the incumbent board at the time of the granting of the increase, and shall be effective only as to members serving upon the said board in the term following the term at which the increase in compensation was established.

Sec. 2. Changes in the rate of compensation by any Board of County Commissioners of Iredell County shall be authorized by the said board of county commissioners at least two (2) weeks in advance of the last date upon which candidates for election to the board of county commissioners may file notice of such candidacy.

Sec. 3. If the said board of county commissioners shall effect any increase in compensation to be paid to members and the chairman of the said board, no further change shall be made in the amount of compensation for a period of at least ten (10) years thereafter, unless such further increase shall be by Act of the General Assembly.

Sec. 4. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 5. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
