AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE COLLECTION OF ADDITIONAL COST BY THE CLERKS OF COURT IN RICHMOND COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. In all civil and criminal cases for nonsupport tried in the Hamlet Recorder's Court, the Richmond County Special Court, or the Superior Court of Richmond County, wherein the defendant is directed to pay into the office of the Director of Public Welfare of Richmond County periodic support payments for his wife, child, or both, the clerks of the respective courts shall collect, in addition to the other costs, the sum of fifteen dollars ($15.00) to offset the expense of collecting the payments. The judgment of the court shall provide that on the first day of October of each year, after the date of the judgment, and so long as the judgment requiring periodic payments is in effect, the defendant shall pay the fifteen dollars ($15.00) additional cost to the Director of Public Welfare, and such sum shall be paid to Richmond County. Failure of the defendant to pay the additional cost herein required, shall be punishable as in contempt of court.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
