AN ACT DECLARING IT A MISDEMEANOR KNOWINGLY TO MAKE A FALSE REPORT OF THE THEFT OR CONVERSION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Article 3 of Chapter 20 of the General Statutes is hereby amended by adding thereto a new Section to be designated G.S. 20-102.1 and to read as follows:

"§ 20-102.1.  False Report of Theft or Conversion. A person who knowingly makes to a peace officer or to the Department a false report of the theft or conversion of a motor vehicle shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable within discretion of the court."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
