HOUSE BILL 1055

 

 

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR STAGGERED TERMS OF OFFICE FOR THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND COMPENSATION FOR BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND MAYOR OF THE TOWN OF CREEDMOOR IN GRANVILLE COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The Board of Commissioners of the Town of Creedmoor in Granville County shall consist of five members. Each member shall be elected for a term of office of four years and shall serve in office until his successor is elected and qualified; provided, however, that at the general municipal election in May, 1963, the three members elected who shall receive the highest number of votes cast by the qualified voters in said election shall be elected for terms of four years each, and the two members elected with the lowest number of votes shall be elected for terms of two years each. Thereafter, all members of said board shall be elected for a term in office of four years each so that in the 1965 general municipal election two members shall be elected to four-year terms and in the 1967 general municipal election three members shall be elected for four-year terms.

Sec. 2. Members of the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Creedmoor shall receive a salary not to exceed twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per month, to be paid out of the general fund of the town, as full compensation for their services.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
