AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 84 OF THE GENERAL STATUTES RELATING TO ATTORNEYS AT LAW.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  The first sentence of G.S. 84‑17 is hereby rewritten to read as follows:

"The government of the North Carolina State Bar shall be vested in a council of the North Carolina State Bar, hereinafter referred to as the 'council', consisting of one councilor from each judicial district of the State, to be appointed or elected as hereinafter set forth, the officers of the North Carolina State Bar, who shall be councilors during their respective terms of office, and each retiring president of the North Carolina State Bar whose term expires after October 1, 1961 who shall be a councilor for a term of three years from the date of the expiration of his term as president."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall become effective October 1, 1961.
