AN ACT RELATING TO THE APPOINTMENT AND TERMS OF OFFICE OF MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF WILSON PLANNING BOARD.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 160-22, as the same appears in the 1959 Cumulative Supplement to Volume 3C of the General Statutes, is amended by adding at the end thereof the following:

"provided, that the Board of Commissioners of the City of Wilson may appoint a Planning Board consisting of six members, the City Manager of the City of Wilson to be an ex officio member of said board and that the terms of office of the present members of the Planning Board of the City of Wilson shall expire on January 1, 1962, or when their successors are appointed and qualify. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Wilson shall at its regular meeting in December, 1961, appoint two members to serve for a term of one year, two members to serve for a term of two years and two members to serve for a term of three years, said terms to begin January 1, 1962. Each year after 1961, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Wilson shall appoint two commissioners of the Planning Board, who shall serve for a term of three years, which terms shall begin on January 1st of the ensuing year. Any member serving a three-year term shall not be appointed to succeed himself."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
