AN ACT TO FIX THE COMPENSATION OF JURORS AND COURT OFFICERS IN JOHNSTON COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. G. S. 9-5, as the same appears in the 1959 Supplement, is amended by adding at the end thereof the following:

"In Johnston County, all jurors in the Superior Court, including grand jurors and petit jurors, shall receive a travel allowance of six and one-half cents (6½¢) per mile while coming to the county seat and returning home, the distance to be computed by the usual route of public travel."

Sec. 2. Any officer in Johnston County appointed to attend the grand jury, the petit jury, or appointed to attend any Superior Court, except officers so appointed who are full-time peace officers of the county, shall receive a travel allowance of six and one-half cents (6½¢) per mile while coming to the county seat and returning home, the distance to be computed by the usual route of public travel.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
